Site Visit to Egypt International Olympic City – Spring 2021
As part of their ongoing exploration of large-scale urban and sports infrastructure, architecture students from Galala University conducted an academic site visit to the Egypt International Olympic City in the New Administrative Capital during Spring 2021. This visit aimed to expose students to contemporary approaches in master planning, sports facility design, and integrated infrastructure systems at a national scale.

Students toured the main Olympic Stadium, indoor arenas, aquatic center, and supporting urban zones, gaining insights into structural systems, circulation planning, sustainable design strategies, and the role of public architecture in shaping national identity. The visit also included discussions with project engineers and architects, enriching students’ understanding of real-world project execution and interdisciplinary collaboration.

This hands-on experience reinforced classroom concepts related to large-scale design, functional programming, and urban connectivity, while encouraging critical thinking about future city-making in Egypt.
