Inclusive universities and the Sustainable Development Goals
The project brought together academic institutions, international partners, and stakeholders from Egypt, Iraq, and Germany to advance inclusive design, accessibility, and sustainable development in higher education. Through a series of workshops, training activities, and collaborative learning experiences, participants explored how universities can become more inclusive environments that support persons with disabilities and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The initiative focused on developing innovative educational approaches for integrating inclusive design and accessibility into architectural education, while equipping students and academic staff with practical skills through fieldwork, collaboration with NGOs and professional firms, and the establishment of specialized Inclusive Design Labs. These labs introduced advanced technologies such as 3D scanning, virtual reality simulations, and 3D printing to support accessibility research and design solutions.
